Spring make-up trends - it's all about colour! (press published)

Spring is slowly emerging which means it’s time to get fresh and exciting with colour!  Colour is infectious so be bold and take the first step - and you’ll soon see others following in your path. As a make-up artist, I adore colour.  Especially important as women get older and less becomes more, applying the tiniest amount of the right colour can completely transform a look.
Focus on either your lips, eyes or cheeks and try one of my top tips below to put a spring into your step for the new season.

Wear a bold eyeliner to exaggerate your eyes
Draw a medium-thick line of brightly coloured eyeliner along your upper lash line to exaggerate and brighten your eyes.  You will be surprised how much this will make your eyes sparkle and energise your look.  The key to getting it right is to be bold with your application and ensure the line you draw is strong and bright. My favourite shades which suit most people are aqua and turquoise green.  I particularly like Rimmel’s ExaggerateAutomatic Waterproof Eye Definer in Emerald Sparkle and Aqua Sparkle£3.99.  Keep cotton buds and eye make-up remover handy so that you can clean up any mistakes you might make on your first few tries and don’t give up if you don’t get it right straight away!

Peach your cheeks for a radiant complexion
Peach is a very flattering colour and suits most skin tones.  It’s what us make-up artists class as a ‘neutral’ shade - midway between warm and cool tones.  Applied liberally to the apples of your cheeks and blended along your cheekbones, a peach blusher will immediately lift your complexion.  You can also apply a sheer dusting all over your face to brighten skin even more! I recommend using NarsBlush in Orgasm at £21.50. But, don’t forget to invest in a quality blusher brush alongside to ensure it looks flawless when applied.

Wear bright lips with flawless skin
You cannot beat a bright coloured lip for glamourizing your look.  But, as with wearing bright colours on your eyes, you must be brave and apply your product boldly!  I recommend using a lip liner first for definition and to help your lipstick last. And, as bright lipsticks can draw attention to blemishes and redness in the skin, apply a little more concealer or foundation than you normally would to ensure your skin looks flawless.  My favourite brights for this season are MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick which retails at £14 and Bobbi Brown Hollywood Red LipColour at £18. For a soft, smooth finish, apply Guerlain’s Kiss Kiss LipliftSmoothing Primer (£23) first.
